Your source for current events impacting the Commission on Teacher Credentialing...... Authored

Bruce Kitchen, CCTC/School District Liaison San Bernardino & San Diego Counties TIME TO ACT!
Senate
Bill 1643 (Torlakson) would create a law that would circumvent the
Commission on Teacher Credentialing and give teacher licensing
authority to County Boards of Education. This bit of legislation would
serve as a "door opener" that would remove credentialing authority and
oversight from the CTC and place it in the hands of 58 different County
Offices of Education. As written, SB 1643 would allow non NCLB
compliant teachers, who are not fully vetted or monitored, into our
children's classrooms.
Surprisingly
(well, maybe not) this Governor sponsored bill has sped through both
the Senate Education and Senate Appropriations Committees and moved to
the Assembly WITHOUT DISSENT. It is scheduled for hearing in the
Assembly Education Committee on June 25. You can read this "its no big
deal" proposal for yourself by clicking on the following link
If it concerns you speak up. Write a letter to
the Chair of the Assembly Education Committee and express your
opposition. If you haven't got time feel free to copy mine. It is
attached.
