YOUR SUPPORT
It is that time of year again and the Commission on Teacher Credentialing has sponsored a couple of teacher discipline bills that could use your support. Senate Bills 1110 (Scott), regarding suspending & revoking credentials related to criminal matters, and SB 1105 (Margett), regarding "no contest" pleas and eliminating a barrier related to verifying adverse actions that can be critical in substitute hirings, are scheduled for hearings with the Senate Education Committee on March 26. You can read the detail on these bills at http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/bilinfo.html The CTC Watch has sent letters of support and
copies of those are attached. After reading the bills, or at least the
short Legislative Counsel's Digest at the front, you may want to add
your support by sending letters to:
The Honorable Jack Scott
Chair, Senate Education Committee State Capitol, Room 2083 Sacramento, CA 95814 or Fax it to 1 (916) 324-7543 Now, if time is critical simply have your
administrative assistant copy the attached on your letterhead and fax
it to Senator Scott.
You will feel better if you do.
