Your source for
current events impacting the Commission on Teacher Credentialing......
Authored & Published by: Bruce Kitchen, CCTC/School District Liaison San Bernardino & San Diego Counties WHY ISN'T IT WORKING? Times of crisis always force us to think. The state's fiscal
emergency certainly fits that bill. .......Huummm;
Maybe the proponents at Stanford were right when they
produced their heavily studied "Getting Down To Facts" document. You
know, the one that concluded "California's school finance and
governance systems are fundamentally flawed. Consequently, California
students perform far lower on tests of achievement than do students in
other states." Perhaps that is why school site principals are
having so much trouble assigning their dollars where they would be the
most effective.
What about that Multiple
Intelligence Theory? If Gardner is correct maybe the college track
academic world is not the best arena for every 13 year old. What
happened to the bell shaped curve? Do we really expect we can
get every student to perform at or above "average"? Isn't that the
goal of NCLB?
Are all of our teachers being
prepared to the best of our ability or is The Center For The Future of
Teaching and Learning on target in pushing for an organized system
of teacher preparation and enhancement?
Not now? Okay. Time is precious
if you are still working on your March 15 notices and probably have the
classified layoff structuring to complete. Sorry for the interruption.
